The stars on my Report card
Most of us have had the privilege of getting stars on the report card, notebooks, and hands and even on the cheeks. When I was in my prep class I was such a teacher’s darling (I had consistently kept that title till my 12th standard). But something after my first class left me absolutely shattered which in some ways disturbed me a lot.
Till prep, I used to get sticker stars, red pen stars, golden stars, marker stars and all the diversity of stars. Coming back home meant my mom’s eyes would be dazzled by all those stars that I was showered with. But that heart breaking moment happened on ‘someday’ in ‘some month’ of ‘the turning point of my life’ year 2007 when I got a black star for forgetting to get a picture of a monkey to school. That black star on the chart paper against my name made the whole world around me so gloomy. I felt dejected, I mean didn’t she know that all the stars belonged to me! However after being in years of depression, though, I sensibly had retained the title of teacher’s darling, then came the light of my life. In tenth class, our class teacher was randomly sticking stars to everyone’s work in notebook and I got a golden and pink one. I couldn’t resist myself to give an acceptance speech which left everyone in the pool of tears. I don’t have star stickers with me handy now, but it definitely has a special place in my heart.
